Common Errors and Fixes
Practical fixes for Windows install friction, desktop sync gaps, and browser cache problems that interrupt employee monitoring or timesheet review.
Installation errors on Windows
If setup exits early, confirm you used the official Downloads link and that you have permission to install software. SmartScreen “Don’t Run” warnings are covered in the FAQ—use Run anyway only for our official build.
- Temporarily pause third-party antivirus that blocks unsigned or newly signed EXEs, then re-enable it.
- Re-download if the installer is truncated (unexpected size or checksum).
- Run the installer as a user with local install rights.
Desktop sync failures
When sessions stay local and never appear in the dashboard, check sign-in, network, and that the backend API URL matches your workspace. Offline time queues on the desktop and should upload when the connection returns—leave the app open briefly after reconnecting.
- Sign out and sign back in to refresh tokens.
- Confirm system clock is correct; large clock skew can break auth.
- Ask an admin to verify the member is active and assigned to the project.
Browser cache and dashboard issues
Stale cache can show outdated team reports or missing members after an invite. Hard-refresh the dashboard, or clear site data for your Employee Activity Tracker domain, then sign in again.
- Try a private window to rule out extensions.
- Disable aggressive ad blockers on the app domain if API calls fail.
- Still stuck? Contact support with your workspace name and approximate time of the error.
